“Us” Movie Review

“Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.”

Jeremiah 11:11

After the success of Jordans Peele’s cult hit “Get Out” back in 2017, the new master of horror has come back with another cinematic masterpiece.

“Us” takes place in Santa Cruz California following the vacation of the Wilson family. After a day in, things take a turn for the worst as a group of strangers who look similar to them invade their home and take them hostage.

The movie features a strong main cast of actors and actresses Including Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and even Tim Heidecker all playing their roles magnificently.

The movie has the viewer at the edge of their chair (or tucked in tight and covering their eyes depending on how you take horror films) up until the end with it’s great but lackluster twist ending that anyone could see coming from a mile away.

The bible quote that I referenced at the beginning is slowly hinted at while the movie goes on. Basically referring to the fact that it is the character, adelaide’s fault that this family is in this situation

Despite the fact that it has a totally meaningless twist ending Jordan Peele has produced a fantastic Horror film that will leave audiences captivated.

For those who enjoy the thrills and chills of a good horror movie this one will have you hooked all the way through and begging for more when it’s over.
