Under the guidance of new Head Coach Erin Johnson, the Prairie Softball Team ended their season with success. Having one of the top GPA’s in the state, several records were broken, and academic and softball selections, the Hawks have a bright future.

With 28 wins and 13 losses, the Hawks were one of the top teams in the Mississippi Valley  Conference and beat some of the best teams in the state.

“Everyone coming together as one helped make our season successful,” Coach Johnson said.

The highlight of their season was when they split with Cedar Rapids Kennedy, who was ranked number one in the state.

Although the Hawks came up short against City High in Regionals, the season was still one of the Hawks’ best.

Nicole Sullivan set a new single-season RBI record of 51.  Morgan Lewis set two records, 55 singles, and 65 hits in a single season. MVC All-Division selections were Nicole Sullivan and Morgan Lewis, who both made the 1st team as well. Sullivan and Lewis also received 5A East All-District honors.  Sullivan was also named to the All-State 3rd Team as well.

Jensyn Jones made 2nd team her first year as an 8th grade starting catcher.

Amaya Snyder received Honorable Mention, as well as Anne Cerveny who got All-Academic along with Faith Hagenow.

Overall our softball program consists of 55 players, and we were recognized for having one of the top GPA’s in the state, 3.88.

With an effective first season under her belt, Coach Johnson is already looking towards next season and finding ways to build on their success.
